WM is the largest provider of environmental solutions and integrated waste management services in North America and is a major player in the production of renewable natural gas (RNG) with around twenty projects under construction.

The company offers a wide range of services to municipalities, industries, businesses and institutions (IBI), from collection, transportation, recycling, to the safe disposal of final residue.

Among other things, WM has set itself the objective of extracting value from the materials it manages at each stage of their recovery and valorization and even of initiating a new circular economy loop downstream of landfill operations by withdrawing renewable energy from materials that could not be recovered. To achieve this, WM is investing massively in Canada, and particularly in Quebec, in infrastructure for organic materials management and RNG production.

WM is currently implementing an environmental and energy complex at its Sainte-Sophie facilities, in the Laurentians. WM is completing the construction of one of the largest RNG production plants in North America using biogas from a technical landfill and will soon add a biomethanization plant which will utilize organic materials. The circular economy loop will take on its full meaning with the supply of RNG to collection vehicles. They will recover the raw material for this renewable fuel from WM customers which will once again propel new collections.
